@digistatic
I enjoy fixing up i.e. editing stations in my spare time. For instance, Two Lochs Radio in Scotland. I enjoy folk music and found it under that genre, but it would not play. The puzzle-piece icon means it is broken. If you can get the stream to play from the stations homepage you are halfway there. They had an updated url that worked over the web, so why not in the database? By downloading their stream player and getting it to play in either my Windows Media Player or Nero Showtime player I right click the file in Win Media player and choose properties. That will show the stream url. In Nero I can open the media folder icon (looks like a black folder on the player) and select media files and it will show the stream url. I either write down the url or copy and paste depending if can be copied and pasted. Once you have the url you are ready to repair and/or update the database. It may take a few tries to get the correct format and bit stream rate. angelranger Chicago USA PS I have a Cobra CIR2000A also. It appears the firmware update is no longer needed. I updated mine in December 2014 and will just leave it the way it is now since it is working again, thanks to William! Note that our database also contains stream formats that can not be played by the Cobra radio's but can be played by others.. Like AAC streams. Obviously these should stay in the database. Streams that have an updated URL can be fixed. Enjoy editing! ![]()
Hello! New here, and to internet capable stereos. Recently purchased a Cobra CIR2000, totally unaware of the situation these devices were in.
Was tempted to send the system back, but I found you guys ![]() Similar to Ziggy73's original post, I have found that a majority of Stations listed for my country (UK) are unavailable - most likely, I assume, to changes in stream locations. I understand that it is a massive undertaking to keep on top of a database of the entire world's radio stations, so I would like to offer my assistance to update/tidy at least the UK's database listings, if you would have me? If so, I would have some questions so that I do not upset anybody (example: is there a preferred stream format/bit-rate?). Thank you =)

There are still some entries in my Favourites (Live Radio) which cannot be deleted in spite of the shown red cross X.
After clicking on the red cross nothing happens. Is there anything I can do? ![]()
Yes, among with various other changes to the website..

So there is. Thank you. And I think read elsewhere that a function to re-order the items in the list is on a to-do list? That will make life even better! Christopher W.

If you go to radio, tv, podacast, vodcast.. then there should be a MyFavorites button on the left side of the screen.
This lists all favorites and let you also remove them. ![]()
Is there a way of seeing, within the Web site, which stations I have selected as my favorites?
(I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I seem to be having a stupid day today.) Christopher W. ![]()
Just a small remark from my side to everyone. If I search for a specific station in the Database it looks like many double or triple entries have been make in the past. For example I searched today for Q-Music Belgium, that station had about 10 entries! And only 2 of them worked. So I cleaned it up and now only one entry is visible, the other ones I've deleted. What I would like to say is, please have a look if a station is available already and if it works or not. If it's there and it works great! If it's there but not working please make it work or delete it. In that way we'll clean up the database and remove all the double or triple links! Thanks in advance.

Yes, of course when a station is gone it can be removed..

Thank you very much for your reply and the tips.
I can understand that you do not really want to remove dead links however sometimes the radiostation simply does not exist anymore, for example 24/7 motown & Durham FM. I would have thought that removing these non-existing links would cut down on the size of the database and might speed up search times. All the other things I am looking forward to. In case I can ever capture any of the error message I am going to put it in this thread. Thanks once again. ![]()

Hi, lets see what we can fix for you. Quote:
Opening streams works if your browser and media player are setup for that. If there is any kind of popup blocking etc. then it will not work. Also there are some issues with how the links are opened. I will look into this. Also wil ltry to fix the adding of stations from a search. Quote:
It is possible that some links are not available 24 hours a day. I will check them. Quote:

I have fixed Wuppertal for you. Also, you can edit links now. Quote:

So am I the only one with these issues or is there something I have overlooked?

Hello,
I just recently started using your firmware. Have to say great job. However I have come across some issues & wondered if it is just me or a general thing. 1. Database: It appears that a quite a few of the links I have tried for example in the Live Radio Database appear to be dead & would need removing. 2. Database: When trying to click on 'Listen to stream' it opens a new window but the stream either times-out, is invalid or just plain dead. Adding some to 'My Favourites' will work and they play on my Disgo TVGO but not always. 3. Database: Sometimes clicking on links to add to 'My Favourites' will add it but also create an error message about some lines in a script being wrong. 4. Search: After having searched for Radio Stations to add to 'My Favourites' I can only add one. Then it jumps back to the 'Live Radio' listings and in order to add another I have to redo the search. 5. On the radio itself a lot of the preexisting links in the 2 sub-menu don't seem to work. Either the player jumps straight back to the menu or just hangs. 6. Favourites: There does not seem to be any particular sort order. Is there a way to sort them? Maybe even freely categorize them? 7. Favourites: I have tried to add a radio station to the database & also to 'My Favourites'. In this example I tried both the existing entries for 'Radio Wuppertal' in the database neither of which works. I tried to add a new working link to the database and it seemed to have been accepted but it never appeared. Then I tried adding it just to 'My Favourites' and got a message along the line that the address already exists in the database. After checking I discovered that while the first part of the address exists the second and further part differ. So I can not add the working link now. I can understand that you do not want everyone to be able to edit the main database as it would create too much of an opportunity for mischief but would it be possible to have editing rights to the links in our own 'Favourites'? Sorry if it sounds all the above sounds very critical. I understand that this is work in progress but I just thought it might be worth mentioning in case it is just me or I have overlooked something. |
