1. movie player / TV - screen ratio - either automatic or manually selectable. Most of internet TV stations looks like they're stretched vertically. It means they broadcast in 16:9 while they are displayed on our devices as 4:3. Similar situation is with movies played from SD card. It might require playback re-start as new parameters to mplayer need to be passed.
2. equalizer - it was already requested somewhere in the forum but it would be really heplful. At least some presets. Sometimes the problem is lack of bass but sometimes high frequencies are too strong.
3. some OSD information about played video/TV channel - already requested by someone so just pulling it up - there would be usefull to have some basic info (played file name, volume, playback time etc.) displayed when certain key on the remote is pressed during video (Internet TV/local file) playback
4. volume bar when changing volume during video playback - there is no visible information about volume change during video playback
5. HOME button might work everywhere - now it works only when in menu (either main menu or 'more apps'). Sometimes menus/functions are nested quite deeply. It would be helpful if we could get to the very top of the device's menu with just one button press. It would stop all current activity (audio/video playback, news display etc.) and go back to main menu. As an option it might keep playing audio whilst back in main menu.
6. run all entries in the menu (podcasts, vodcasts, more apps etc.) - it would be usefull to be able to run all entries in podcasts/vodcasts/applications in 'more apps' submenu - similarly like playing all files from local directory so we do not have to press ENTER on each separate entry
7. s-menu (on simple remote) during playback - selectable list of available items - it would be usefull to be able to turn off certain items/screens (news/weather/twitter/stock/clock/nightstand) from the sequence displayed after s-menu press while radio (internet and FM) playback
8. tunein/icecast - possibility to add to favourites - it would be usefull to have possibility to add tunein/icecast entries to favourites - it is applicable to any media playable on the device - the device already remembers last played media (including icecast/tunein) when 'Auto play when turned on' option selected.
9. full path of nested directories in trees - sometimes directories are quite deeply nested (icecast/tunein) - it would be helpful if directories full path is displayed somewhere
10. complete config backup - it would be usefull to have full config backup/restore function - it could place backed-up file(s) on SD card or in internal memory
and traditionally one bug at the end:
1. from main menu go to 'More Apps'
2. press 'RETURN' on (simple) remote
RESULT:
Clock is displayed instead of main menu.

Have i found a bug?
I found an station per TUNE-IN and would have it in my favorites. So aim working on it.Every time i will play this station from favorites it comes with an Error-Message-Window which says the Server seems to busy fore an connection now, try it later. The other way over TUNE-IN works fine at all the time.

My fault - I didn't mention my remote model. Indeed I have simple remote. Can I suggest EQ button? It is not used in menu mode and it is located in one column with INTERNET TV and INTERNET RADIO. They would make one logical group - all three basic device functions: Internet TV, Internet Radio and FM Radio.

I think the problem lies in the fact that on simple remote up/down buttons act as (and are marked as) volume +/-. Therefore up/down does the frequency scanning as you said but at the same time they cannot be used as volume +/- while they are marked this way Mute/TV OUT are used as volume +/- on simple remote and there is no MUTE function as the button is used for Volume+.
My suggestion for SIMPLE remote:
- UP/DOWN (marked on simple remote as Volume+/-) should be used as Volume +/- in both Preset and Tuning mode.
- MUTE button should be used as MUTE in both Preset and Tuning mode.
- LEFT/RIGHT buttons should be used as frequency fine tune when short pressed in Tuning mode.
- LEFT/RIGHT buttons should be used as frequency scanning when long pressed in Tuning mode - they (as all other) generate different scancodes when pressed short and long. We may turn off their auto repeating. When pressed they should do one step of fine tune and then, if still pressed and long-press-scan-code received, do frequency scan to the next station. That option should be tested first anyway.

1. FM radio - dedicated button on the remote - as there are both Internet TV and Internet Radio buttons there would be nice to have one dedicated to RM radio. |
We have a few different remote controls to deal with. For the extended remote control, which comes with most devices, there already is a direct button to FM Radio.
It should be the green button (if your remote control is detected as extended -28 button- remote in settings). In my case it even has the text "FM Radio" printed above the "green" button.
I know you have a Wiwa and that one seems to come with the "simple" remote which only has 20 buttons. There is also a 40 button remote used in Asia.
You can read about some remote control info here in the second post.
Anyway, if you know a button that is free and that would make sense to have a FM radio function on the "simple" remote let me know.

3. FM radio - it should start in preset mode not tuning mode - usually you have your preferred stations already saved as presets and want to switch between them. |
Quote:
4. FM radio - volume buttons on remote should match labels - it's very misleading that VOL+ and VOL- buttons on the remote does not change volume while FM radio listening. Maybe |<< and >>| buttons should serve as 'find next/previous' station while fine tune would be done by MUTE and TV OUT? |
up/down does the frequency scanning while left/right does fine tune.
Quote:
5. FM radio icon closer to the top in the main menu - as FM radio is one of the basic SkyTC device's functions it would be good to have it close to other two (internet radio, internet tv) which means the first row |
Quote:
6. FM radio - start with FM radio - there should be 'FM' option along with 'Audio' and 'Video' at 'settings'-->'Volume and Player Settings'-->'Auto play mode' |
Quote:
7. FM radio - top bar translation - preset mode / Tuning mode messages from FM radio top bar should be included in language files |
Quote:
8. I've also just found one bug: a) start FM radio b) go to preset mode and select any preset but the first c) exit FM radio and turn the device off d) turn the device on e) start FM radio f) select preset mode RESULT: selected preset is the one set in step b) but preset 1 is the one which is played |
Yeah, it did store the last used frequency but did not keep track of the last used preset. Now it does.

Maybe it would be a good idea to show such information (number of badblocks and their total size) in Settings-->About section ? This way you can gather information on how much our SkyTC devices are spoiled - how much memory is missing. It may be useful when you calculate the size of coming new firmwares.

In this bug problem seems to lie in the way the URL is passed to mplayer. For some reason -playlist parameter does not work. URL analyze/recognition should be improved? I think it does not make sense to put two mplayer versions especially when newer one plays only audio. I can't say anything about audio quality in mplayer 1.2 as I'm using my Wiwa as standalone device but for me it plays quite fine. |
Yes, this has to be improved. For now various things are used to detect what stream type is forwarded to mplayer. One of them being the extension.
Another is the content type that is displayed in the header of the URL. Your link did not have an extension so thats most liklely the reason why it goes wrong.
In some cases the URL works fine if you add .mp4 or .mpg
I will look at this anyway.

Yes, one way is to improving the mplayer 1.2 version that Ingenic made available. Another way is to fix the 1.3/1.4 version so that these works on our devices.
In both cases it is a lot of mind bending work.

These bad blocks can be fixed. However, the problem is of course that most users will not know until the device does not boot anymore.
Also, they installed the recovery mode only on some models. Most models do not have the recovery mode present and that makes it even harder to fix the problems.

you've done excellent work with 1.43 firmware. I suppose Chinese who designed the device did not expect how much is it possible to squeeze out of it. Keep going. Below are couple of bugs I found so far: |
thanks
Quote:
1. (bug) a. go to 'Internet Radio'-->any radio station b. press 's-menu' button 4 times on (standard) remote to change display to 'stock market' c. press 'return' button to get to standard radio interface d. press 'return' button again to exit radio (same for 'stop' button) RESULT: Stock market currencies list displayed instead of radio stations. The same situation occures when you select both nightstand or clock in step b. |
Ok, done the above steps and same result. Will fix it right away.

2. (bug) I'm trying to play 'http://195.245.213.200/Ch0012ex1' video stream. It is local TV station. I add it as a new private Live TV on website. When I try to play it on SkyTC device the stream does not play. I observed that you pass the stream URL to mplayer as '-playlist' parameter. When I manually tried to pass it as regural argument without '-playlist' it plays fine: /usr/jz-project/mplayer -slave -input file=/tmp/mpio -af volume=-10 -cache 4096 -cache-min 20 -cache-seek-min 90 -colorkey 0x020202 -identify -vf scale=320:240 http://195.245.213.200/Ch0012ex1 |

Plays fine but this is with one of the latest official mplayer builds.
On the device we are limited a lot because Ingenic only made mplayer 1.2 available.
I have, version 1.3 working but only audio. Video fails. One option would be to include 2 different versions to get much better audio support but since mplayer is rather large and a lot of devices have bad blocks from the time bomb the Chinese implemented I dont really want to push the device to the limit in terms of memory usage.

3. (bug) After playing the stream from point 2 above for couple of minutes device (Wiwa ertv-208) hangs. The only solution then is to forcibly (long press to ON/OFF butto on the device) turn it off. There is nothing special reported on the command line when device hangs (even with mplayer debug level = 9). I didn't observe any memory leak as memory usage slightly rises after stream play starts but then stays at (almost) the same level. I tried couple of different scaling settings: -vf scale=320:180 - (16:9 aspect ratio) - hung after 1m 25s -vf scale=320:180 - hung after 8m 15s -vf scale=320:240 - hung after 5m 5s (with this setting it always hung after the same time) no -vf parameter - mplayer automatically downscaled to 320x240 - hung after 5m 5s but this time 'Segmentation fault' was reported on command line I observed similar hanging action when playing many other live tv stations or online videos. Quite often screen flickers when device hangs. Does 'segmentation fault' in the last case mean incorrect pointers usage inside mplayer routine? |
Most likely also related to the fact we use an older MPlayer version. How good are your coding skills?
Anway, thanks a lot for your report. Very useful and appreciated a lot.

So with my newly aquired Disgo I have loaded 1.43, I should have loaded 1.41 first yes ? As at the moment I have no links in internet radio and shoutcast only seems to work with a few of the sections like 80's |
No, you should not load an older version first.
There is something different compared to the original firmware.
With the original firmware, when the chinese server is not reachable the device can not be used.
With the listenlive firmware, when the server is not reachable the device can still be used. This is done by caching the stations lists on the device itself.
However, if you are over exited and go to the station lists too quickly and the internet connection is not fully build up, it might store a failed load.
It might also fail to load new lists due due to date issues.
So you have to make sure your system date/time is properly set. Also you can clean the cached data in the settings screen. "Restore factory defaults" option has a number of questions which you can answer with yes and no.
Just answer the question about clearing the cache memory with yes and all others with no.
How are TuneIn and Shoutcast working? Data is correct there?
Note that these two are not using the database here so whatever station details it gets there is coming from the respective servers.
Version 1.44 which will be out soon, will have also rad.io, live365 and Tuner.

Loading the file externally is complicated (not impossible) but would need additional tools.
|
I tried both decimal and hexadecimal WEP key entry without success (result: Not connected).
After changing my router's wireless encryption to WPA-PSK, I was able to connect.
I was aware that WEP is not very secure encryption, but my old Skype phone was only able to connect to WEP 64, WEP 128, and WPA-PSK (TKIP) wireless encryption. Hence my router was WEP 128 encrypted (key: be0cf35579f577afe5412cd11b).
So there is a small bug somewhere regarding WEP key entry to be fixed.

at Podcasts with more than one entry, the first selected entry will be played three times although shuffle is not selected. (neither possible to select)
then it stops playing and goes back to root menu of the interpreter.
so every entry in the podcast must be started individually, it should be play the whole list...

Anyway, I re-checked the WEP key settings and I can connect here to a WEP encrypted AP.
Could it be you are entering your WEP key in decimal while hexadecimal is set (or the other way around) ?

If you choose settings, Timer 1 and you select "German: Zuletzt gespielte Musik" - Lasted played music - the text will switch to "German: Wochenende SA-So aktiv" - Weekend Sa-Su - active and the bell sound rings. Hi, if you select FM or last played music stream the test sound will be a standard bell. It was only meant for setting the volume level. (Which is since 1.43 a seperate setting screen)
It is possible that the german text is not correct. Will check that.
Quote:
One further point: Is it possible to play the installed sounds quiter? They are so loud on the smalest volume level. |
There is a master volume. Go to settings, Volume and player settings, mplayer volume and fm volume are the master volume levels.
Set mplayer volume it to -20 if it is at -10.

Can you try to verify the issue?

In the above sample alarm 1 and 2 are both turned off. Because of that, first alarm will be set to 0.. meaning no alarm should be set by the firmware.
the last line is a read of the real time clock hardware and in the example as expect it displays also "off" in that case the date and time is not important.
Of course when you use alarm 1 and/or alarm 2 it should display the settings as you set them. The "First Alarm" should then display 1 or 2 depending on which one is first.
Like when you for example use one alarm for the weekend and one for the weekdays, the next alarm that should be trigger would be the weekdays alarm as it is monday tomorrow.
So the "first alarm" indicator shows which one is first to get triggered.
note that the clock screen also shows which alarm is the first one to get triggered.
Since it is possible that there is a bug, you can verify by looking at the Alarm hardware line. This should then be "On" and the date/time should be set to tomorrow's date and the alarm time.

Okay, TuneIn is far better than standard Internet Radio. But I can see here a problem - you are trying to put too many things and you can't spend too much time to nail each icon to its perfection. Why do we have so many icons if 90% of them do not work and there will be no time to fix them? |
Regarding Favorites - may be it's better if I can enter my username in Settings and Favorites will become "My Favorites" and stop giving me huge list of users? |

Just how was I supposed to figure that out without a manual?

Providing a default sort order setting seems a good idea.

It took me by surprise that tracks still do not get sorted. I thought this was already fixed?

Not only that browsing through directories of dozens of artists is overly complicated this way (no alphabetically sorted list), but also the songs of an album (directory) get played in a weird order. This is especially frustrating with concept albums and transitions between two songs...

Is there any way to fix this in 1.44 (sort directory entries alphabetically and play them in order)?

As I would also like to see this feature, just a simple suggestion:
But I agree with William: UPnP - especially cover art support - has a higher priority, not to forget last.fm support |
I agree that this would be a very useful feature. And I would appreciate an implementation in a similar way for the applications listed when pressing the s-menu button while playing the media player, e.g. showing in first position the night clock, second wheather forecast, hiding the stock index, ....

I bought OTEK IPTV510. Decided to upgrade to v.1.43 and I'm not happy with the outcome.
Very often when I go to Internet radio I'm getting settings screen and nothing works until I reboot the device.
Also I can't select Internet radio stations based on genre only by geographical region.
Majority of stations do not work as the list is never checked for its validity.
How can I install back V1.7 from Otek ?

- Show a list of the names of all apps in the given order
- use the center (OK) button to select an entry, and up/down buttons to move it up or down in the list
- press the center (OK) button again to lock the app in the current position
- optionally: use left/right buttons for jumping a up/down pagewise, these buttons might alternatively be used to toggle whether an app symbol is displayed at all
But I agree with William: UPnP - especially cover art support - has a higher priority, not to forget last.fm support

Enable / Disable the visible stuff on the main page or sorting. I like the new style and functionality of firmware 1.43. Unfortunately I don't need all the stuff and it would be great if it's possible to implement the option to activate or deactivate a app on the main page, to reduce scrolling. For example: (News, Wetter, Twitter, Aktienkurse). The benefit: I can reach all the stuff I need on the main page without scrolling and I can sort the apps in order of my favour. Is it possible William? |
Technically it is possible, but at the moment I have no idea how to code that in. It will probably be possible in a future version.
But it does not have a priority at the moment. Things like fixing TV-Out, improving UPnP etc. are more important for the moment.
1.44 is nearly done and as you can see in the first post will have some nice new things and some fixes and improvents.
~William

Donations are not a requirement to get support.
If your username is not in the list, then this is most likely because the server does not know you have a "SkyTC" (manufacturer) device.
On the top of this page go to [User settings] press [Edit device details] and make sure there is a "Yes" on the SkyTC line.
This will make sure the server generates the right files for you and your name appears on the lists.

Setup a network connection:
[settings] [Network Settings] [Wifi Access Point setup] [Auto search access points] select your network from the list, enter password when asked for it and give it some time to connect.
If it fails to connect and you provided the right password, turn off the device and turn it back on. Then it might connect in a clean way.
Other things you might want to set:
[Language settings] select the language you like to use, language files are updated from the server when you select your language. On the forum there are threads for various languages where you can make fixes to incorrect translations.
[Display settings] here you can set the night clock brightness.
[Volume settings] here you can set the standard volume level. If the lowest volume is still too loud or the loudest volume is not loud enough, make changes here.
[Remote control settings] do this once press the 'Mute' button on your remote and the softwar will detect your remote control model.. (will say extended remote) Once it is set to extended, buttons like clock, fm, iradio, itv etc will have a meaning.
[MyFavorites user account] set this once also when you have a workign connection, it will list all user accounts, select your user name to have the favorites selected on this website available on your device.
[Weather settings] use this to set your location (country, city) so that you get local weather forecasts.
I did not have time to make a manual yet. But that is on the todo list.
In general, the main menu consists of application icons that each launch a specific program. Most of them should be clear. There are however some special things.
Like when you select a radio stream or are playing a MP3 file you can use the submenu button to togle to other applications like Clock, News, Weather etc.
The "More Apps" icon opens another menu screen with 24 more applications.
Anything not clear, just ask..

BUT: because there is a completely different design (what is it based upon and can I get a "manual" somewhere?) I can´t even manage to connect to my WLAN. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would surely influence the amount I wanted to donate

Thank you in advance

Hi, still no drill down in Samba shares. sniff |
Hi, I know of your issues and am looking again at the samba routines.
Do you have, under [settings],[network settings],[network setup],[samba network settings] entered the correct name for your workgroup ?
When I use the wrong name, it always has a problem finding the shares on the first try, second try finds them for me in that case.
With the correct workgroup name it finds my shares on the first try.
I am also adding shares that you can set in advance (via settings). So the detection of the network shares will not be an issue in that case.
So these are like "favorite" samba shares. You provide IP address, share name and login details.

You embed these images into the mp3s? |
Furthermore, the Twonky server only shows the songs, not the other files contained in the same folder. So if I am not mistaken, you can only provide cover art via UPnP if you either embed it in the file itself (ID3/Vorbis tag) or fetch it from the internet on-the-fly...

The clock button still works.
Go to [settings], [Remote Control Settings] and make sure the remote is set to "extended" type.
Then the clock button should be mapped correctly.

Mediatomb/LL 1.43:
It identfies correctly, lists directory structure correctly (incl
icons), but once selecting a (video) file to play it almost
immediately returns to the menu screen. No error message, no system crash, no attempt to play as far as I can tell..... This happens for any video format, with or without subtiltles in the directory. The video files play fine through samba or local media, so it is not a matter of unsupported video formats.
I did notice that on mediatomb both playable files (ie AVI) and subtitle files (ie SRT) are displayed in the menu, while on Tweakmonkey only playable files are displayed. Also the subtitle files are (incorrectly??) displayed with a folder/subdir icon (SRT files mostly carry the same name as video file).
I also noticed that on mediatomb, when selecting a directory (be it audio/video) with many (hundreds of) files, it takes forever (if ever) to load the next menu level. Mostly it just hangs in the rotating circle, and even the power on/off fails to opperate. That does not happen with the Tweakmonkey server.
Any clues...?

There apperently is something uniquely 'different' in the lsitenlive FW, preventing it to play back video from (only) mediatomb. Any chance Upnp support can be looked at again ? |
To find what part of the code is wrong, what happens or how do you see it does not work.
Does it try to play and hang, does it try to play and return quickly, does it fail to list any video files, etc.

Obviously hmt370 must have at least some different/additional hardware inside, but nice that the basic design indeed is the same as our 'mini' SkyTC!!
It looks like a nice device, I wonder about pricing..... I'm currious what we can expect...

1) One observation with respect to Upnp playback; FW1.4x correctly identifies my Upnp servers, the menu is displayed correctly, and menu selection seems to work. But.... Audio plays fine, while video playback only works with TweakMonkey server, not with my Mediatomb server. Both my Realtek 1283DD based mediaplayer and HDTV do play anything just fine from both servers. The orginal SkyTV software also plays video fine from both servers. There apperently is something uniquely 'different' in the lsitenlive FW, preventing it to play back video from (only) mediatomb. Any chance Upnp support can be looked at again ? |

2) I came across the Xoro hmt370. It has 7 inch screen and HDMI output connection, but furthermore strongly resembles a SkyTC device. Does anybody know this device? Is it marketed under other brandnames aswell ? Any chance it can be fitted with listenlive software ? |

Have two, have them running, they are slightly faster but also have some strange things...
LL works on it. No idea about pricing/availability though. I might have some alternatives soon as well..

I think "folder.jpg" (case insensitive) plus support for image data from ID3 tags (and Vorbis/FLAC tags) will suffice. Thats what applications like MediaMonkey and dBpoweramp typically use. If you want to make it more flexible, optionally look whether there is only a single JPEG file in the folder (no matter how it is named) and use that. |
I will test how much time it takes to look for a single jpg, otherwise just stick with the first part.
Also going to add the images for radio stations (added for TuneIn already in the code)
Quote:
BTW: is there a limitation (file size, height/width) to the cover art images? |
My own collection has folder.jpg images that are up to a few hundred kilobytes. It will try to sqeeze anything it is thrown at it to the low res size.

Furthermore, why does the MediaPlayer display so large buttons instead of using this screen space for cover art and/or additional information like progress/time remaining? |

Dont worry.. I was already thinking about making the buttons half the size to get more space for the things I need..
Also want to display the name of the next song that is going to be played etc.
If you can do a better job on image design (or anyone else..) please by all means step forward.. Not just the player but also news, weather, etc etc.. all welcome..

Cover art does not seem to work via UPnP - or does it only look for special .jpg files in the current folder and ignore the image embedded in the ID3-tag? |
For now it just looks in the directory a file is played from for an image named folder.jpg/folder.png/folder.gif
It does not look in ID3tags and also not for differently named files (yet!).
I now need to extend its functionality to grab images for radio stations and possibly other files or from id3 tags.
So any input people have on how they store cover art images is welcome.

Thank you so much for the work done! The new firmware until I found only 2 drawbacks: 1. Still on SD-card in the files and folders does not support Cyrillic. 2. When Sleeptimer turn off playback, not switches your device to the bedside Night clock mode, and shows a playlist (stations or files). except for the FM-radio, where all the switches correctly. |
1. I noticed.. sorry. a required file was missing.. I did not notice earlier since it was present on my test systems

2. I will fix that.

- Would it be possible to gain access to one's user account at TuneIn (e.g. Fav's)? |
Hello,
With 1.43 I just added the public parts. I think it is already a nice addition to have this but indeed I also want to support loggin in to a personal account.
Hopefully I get this working in the next version.
Quote:
- What about Vodcast to play most recent file instead of play last played on startup? |
This is probably a bit harder to implement as it currently only stores the url to the last streamed audio/video pod/vodcast.
At that point it does not know where the URL came from and thus has no way of knowing if there is a more recent pod/vodcast.
I do see it would be a useful feature to add and have some ideas about a solution for it... So lets get that on the wish list.
Quote:
- Cover art works good for local jpg's. Would it be possible to load cover art from internet during the play of a radio stream? |
The current implementation of cover art support is just the initial fase. The image loading/processing/displaying etc is all in place.
Next are logo's and more flexibility with the covers and perhaps display the image a bit larger although that limits space for names etc..
Anyway, it would be helpful if people could say what names are used for covers in their music collection.
I have some other ideas for improvements as well.. see the wishlist in the first post.

Fixed: Media player now displays country specific characters correctly (ëöü etc. but also Russian-Cyrillic, Chinese etc.)
Fixed: NFS selection did not visually show if it was on or off.
Fixed: After leaving the player screen sometimes images were overlapping. Should be fixed now.
Fixed: in some cases the sleep timer would not shut of the sounds that were playing.
Added: Alarm Volume selection screen similar to the brightness selection screens
Added: Speaker icon to the taskbar
Added: Additional FM frequency checks to make sure the frequency is within the selected band
Added: Support for cover art (folder.jpg/gif/png)
Changed: moved more static text strings to the language files
Changed: first alarm time and sleep timer countdown font increased so that it is easier to read
Changed: Selection of Analog/Digital clock can now be set seperately for normal and night mode clock.
v1.42 - dated: 22 june 2012
Fixed: Improved UPnP device detection.
Fixed: When you set an Alarm sound you will see a list of preloaded sounds, the last entry is FM Radio and the entry before that is incorrectly displaying "Weekend (Sat-Sun)".
This is actually the setting for the last played music stream.
Fixed: When you select the Dutch language the MyFavorites screen does not display the right tes. Will be solved as soon as possible.
Fixed: When playing from a local or network dream and not using the repeat function, at the end of the playlist the player loops while it should just terminate.
Fixed: recording was possible in MyFavorites: Internet TV & Vodcast. This caused problems. No longer possible to select recording here.
Fixed: When going from playing music to the clock screen the sleeptimer could not be set.
Fixed: Activate UPnP on startup setting could be activated but did not survive reboots..
Fixed: Turning off the alarm did not really turn off an already set alarm in the real time clock hardware.
Changed: Restore Factory defaults. Now has 3 questions, clear device settings, clear wifi settings and clear cache memory. Answering yes on any of the first two questions will result in a reboot.
Changed: Some texts were either too large or too small.
Changed: when UPnP is not activated on startup, it is only active during the Mediaplayer session (to make sure network traffic and memory use is low).
Changed: List of stock market symbols was static, now it is loaded from the server.
Changed: Language data was static, now it is loaded from the server.
Changed: moved the taskbar from the bottom to the top of the screen in Main screen and More Apps screen.

Added: Taskbar to media player device selection screen
Added: Minimum cache size (mplayer '-cache-min' option) can now be set in the settings screen
Added: Our devices have the Wifi module run in power saving mode. It is now possible to switch between power saving and max. performance.
Note that also power consumption increases so this might not be a good idea when using batteries.
Also note that if your Wifi is working fine, you should not really change the setting.
Added: Additional languages. Translations and fixes can be added afterwards.
v1.41 - dated: 7 june 2012
Improved overal stability.
Added: If a stream stops due to an empty cache it will restart up to 3 times. (can be turned off in "volume and player settings")
Note that this feature works perfect in some cases, in other cases it might just fail 3 times in a row.
Added: Video is now automatically scaled to full screen. (can be turned off in "volume and player settings")
Changed: News page font changed from 10p to 12p
Changed: Twitter page shows 5 tweets per page, was 7
Changed: Twitter page font changed from 10p to 12p
Added: Latest Movie Trailers from a well-known source
Added: some additional system information that is needed for recovery modes.
Added: When the alarm is set to the last player url, it is stored seperately. This means you can set Alarm1 to the last played station, then tune to a new station, set Alarm 2 to that one and then listen to a different station with the sleep timer. This solves the problem of going to sleep with one station and waking up with another.
Added: Sleep timer countdown is displayed on the clock screen.
Added: first alarm to get triggered and the time it is triggered is displayed on the clock screen.
Changed: Audio/Media player has a new graphics layout and some on screen buttons (previous/next/play/pause/record/stop/shuffle/repeat).

Added: NBC streams to the More Apps button (previously known as sub menu).
Added: Weather now also shows visibility, humidity, air pressure and UV index
Fixed: SSID with spaces now fully supported.
Fixed: sleep timer.
Fixed: Alarm 1 and 2 and several issues surrounding it. Press back/exit button to deactivate alarm, ok/up/down to snooze.
Fixed: Alarm can now wake you up with internet radio station sound. Selection is limited to the last played station for now, to not delay the release much longer this will be extended at a later date.

- Fixed: a timezone change did not directly result in the correct time, a reboot was needed for that. Now it takes the new time right away.
- Fixed: Due to a mistake, multi language support on the SD card was not added to 1.43
- Fixed: It appears that in some cases the device was not detected when connecting to the PC via USB.
- Fixed: Selecting "last played stream" as alarm sound would display an incorrect text.
- Fixed: TuneIn app sometimes got incorrect URL's.
- Fixed: removed a potential overflow problem in the Stocks app.

- Changed: the font size for the song name and station are now dynamic. A larger font is used when it fits on screen.
- Alarm could ring all day long, now a repeat of playing the alarm sound (either because there was no response or because snooze button was pressed) is limited to max. 6 times.

- Daylight brightness can not be lowered completely anymore. This is to prevent users from not being able to see anything after setting it too low.
- Little change in the clock display screen.. previously showed 1: 07:00 or 2: 07:00 to indicate which alarm would go off first.
the double semicolon was confusing so it now is like this: 1) 07:00

- Added: MediaPlayer: now shows song duration (Just duration, "time left" will follow later)
Reported Bugs (not yet fixed):
- check: Alarm volume does not take the preset alarm volume but the last volume level..?
Known Issues:
- TV-Out is not working properly, this will be addressed as soon as possible.
Unlike the official firmware, technically it is possible to drive an external screen with 720x573 or 720x482 resolution.
It will take some time to get it sorted out and pull the most out of the hardware.
- The devices are clocked at 378 Mhz. According to the Ingenic datasheet, the CPU can operate at 400 Mhz.
Overclocking should also work up to ~430 Mhz. So I will try to get the CPU a bit faster.
- cover art is limited to folder.jpg/.png/.gif (for now)
Wishlist / Planned for a future update:
- Play newest vodcast/podcast when available (eg. subscribe to a feed)
- extend cover art support based on user requests
- display the name of the song that is going to be played next in media player
- Get weather strings displayed in the selected language (now is displayed in English as received from accuweather).
- fix TVOut
- browse via Genre when browsing TV/Radio lists. (already supported on the firmware, needs a change at the server)
- previous/next radio/tv station stream with left/right buttons while playing
- improve NFS support
- add a Screensaver -> can use the clock mode until we have a real screensaver
- add support for Spotify -> libspotify is not available for our MIPS core yet. Perhaps later
- add support for HBBTV
- add support for Last.FM
- add support for loging in with Tunein and Live365
Always open for suggestions for additional functionality.
