Now it is the exact same button everywhere.
Adding existing stations to favorites is only done with the heart icon..

I'm sorry, the new button with MyFavorites is misleading.
To ADD STATION on MY FAVORITES is the old known business with the heart icon. Is it possible, to call it i. e. ADD NEW STATION?

When adding a station there are various buttons to end up on that page.
I added a "add station" button to the favorites list.
When you use that button, the preset is to private...

What do you think about this ADD THIS STATION item to set the default value to PRIVAT (pls. refere to April 17, 2016, 12:05 AM above)?
I assume that the private user creates even a public record for functional test purpose on private at first.

The idea behind that is simple:
If a station(stream) is already in the database, you can add that stream to your favorites.
There is no need to add it again to the database.
I created the database so that we as a community could have some control over the streams that were made available.
Korean Penbex and Chinese SkyTC both pulled the plug on their databases so that the devices would be useless now.
Creating the favorites method via the database and not using a local file was a choice for three reasons.
Partially to keep the community active but also to have your favorites updated when database changes happen on one of the favorites.
Besides that, it was a solution that worked on all the different devices that are supported.
The Penbex boxes do not have the option for a local file.
Making changes to the above would require firmware updates. But it is for sure an option.
I am collecting ideas, feedback, bug reports etc. until there is a real need for a firmware upgrade.
The problem with a firmware upgrade is that the devices are getting older and flash memory is often not in an optimal state.
So it is about finding a balance between a really needed firmware upgrade and the risk of dead devices.
Anyway, with the current firmware we can also make life easier.
I removed the captcha from that page for those who have moderation rights. One field less to fill.

As a hack to get around private URLs matching things in the database ... you could try adding characters that have no effect on the streaming but make a match fail.
e.g. Try putting a leading zero in front of the port number or extra stuff at the end &a=a if already a ? In URL otherwise ?a=a (or anything else).

many thanks for the information. There were four entries for "SWR Cont.Ra". I have deleted all of it, the three defect ones and even the one functional entry.
The actual record for this station is renamed now to "SWRinfo". For short search arguments of "SWR" and "info" these separate words are also available in brackets.
I try to cleanup station records on the database from time to time - but it is so much!
I completely agree with you: the default ADD THIS STATION should read PRIVATE. This is definitively an item for William to answer.

The official name is indeed SWRinfo. The name in the database now is not the official one. In addition, it is only the 128k stream, not the 48k one. Incidentally, the old SWR cont.ra entries can be removed as SWRinfo is in fact the same station under the new brand. The old stream URLs are still redirected, but it's probably just a matter of time until that will be removed.

As someone who prefers to add URLs directly to my favourites, I'm not too thrilled with the web interface as it is.
The fact that private stream URLs are checked against the database and rejected if they exist / are pending is annoying at best. I would love to see the personal favourites process separated from the public suggestions.
Incidentally, while I'm at it -- should there be an updated version of the LL firmware for SkyTC radios, I would really want to see an option to add stations to the favourites via a file local to the radio.
