Yeah, I am looking at automating some of the testing..

Indebted once again Sir William!!

And TY to Nobi as well!

Side question...
How long does it take to get off of "double secret probation" (so that posts don't have to be approved)? *chuckles*

Second question, I've wondering if there's a way to edit favorites listed in my personal favorites list? (Like station naming? Or other attributes.)
I would assume that they are maintained by a separate database, so as to not interfere with the primary (public) database, thereby mitigating/limiting any risk to "polluting/corrupting" the main database.

@penbex
I am curious about the possibility of adding a button to the bottom of the "add station" page.
Currently, there's only add to public, and add to personal.
Would it be OK to have an "add to both" button? Or would that present too many obstacles, or added risk to the process/databases?

Thanks again!

Black Light Radio leads to TuneIn (Click To Listen).
And TuneIn presents the following information:
BlackLight Radio is an internet-only, 24/7 radio station streaming in stereo at 64 kbps AAC+ live from Owasso, Oklahoma, USA.

Could you please check this stream for me?
(I know you're reading the headers, but no idea what tool or how ATM.)

http://www.listenlive.nl/show.php?id=8360

It comes up as:
http://cassini.shoutca.st:8154/stream

It streams great on the webpage.
But I get nothing when I put the cassini link into Winamp v2.91 (on pc, which is how I'm testing now)
I figured if I test the streams on this antique version of winamp and the links play, I should be golden on the AT.

An audio stream is set to AAC with "Stream format:" here, if it is definitely signed to AAC by the extension of ".aac"

Most of the MPEG radio streams are usable to listen directly out of the LL record by an web browser.
If such an MPEG stream is AAC coded (mp4a, MPEG AAC Audio), I mark it by [AAC] at the end of the station name.

There is actually already an AAC/AACPlus icon..
However, these icons only get displayed when the stream is marked as AAC/AAC+
Since the streams are marked as MP3 a winamp icon is shown.

I know that some AAC streams will only play when set to MP3 type.
That is because the radio's have some poor code that look at the settings rather than analyze the mpeg stream data.
We can make a solution for displaying the proper icon I think...

Ahh, your first paragraph reveals my newb-ness shining through! lol
Good to know, and TY!

"I know that some AAC streams will only play when set to MP3 type.

Interesting to learn.
When you say radios, I assume you're referring to the receiving end units (and not the head end)?

Obviously I still have a lot to wrap my head around when it comes to the details of the audiotron.

Hi Sprkslfly,
"3WK Undergroundradio" is currently not available on ListenLive database.
The audio stream shown in our 3WK record belongs to Pocono 96.7, which is presented by it's own record "WABT Pocono 96.7 FM".
This 3WK is misleading. I will delete it at the end of this week.

I do not know details about your hardware in use, but you should know:
The audio streams of
 KLBC 106.3 Texoma's Best Country
 WABT Pocono 96.7 FM
are AAC coded!

Nobi

Much appreciated to the both of you!

@Nobi
I noticed that you appended the station ID with the extra tag [AAC]. This should help many who are already familiar with what formats are playable, and which are not. But being an AT newb, I only knew to look for a scant few things. The leading one being the Winamp icon.

When I saw the Winamp icon, the next thing I would do is hit the 'play' button (after opening the station into a separate window) to test the stream, and see if the url still resolved to a working stream, that matches the format/station ID. (That's how I added the majority of the favorites I have in my list).

The two streams referenced in the first post, were pulled from the LL database.

The one you missed (that I had a pic of, but as yet is unhosted) is for the 3WK stream linked below (which still needs to be amended to have the [AAC] tag:

http://www.listenlive.nl/show.php?id=33175

That's the WABT that I was talking about (or at least, what the AT resolves to, when using the 3WK St Louis stream), which is a separate listing from the Poconos station you found!

I'm not sure if there's a way for you to poll the database for url's that use securesystems.net and then batch tag them to [AAC]? But just a passing thought!

Second, still a bit of a head-scratcher, but as mentioned above, I tested these before adding them to my favorites list, and they played fine.
In fact, they still play fine in the web-browser on LL. It's only when you attempt to play them on the AT that the issue became apparent.

I assume that whatever interface is in place for 'play-testing' free streams is doing a bit of auto-translating (format wise).
Handy for verifying that the stream itself is streaming audio. Not so handy for determining playability in this case. /chuckles
(Not meaning to appear ungrateful for all the coding time and hard work in maintaining etc, but just noting a potentially unexpected glitch in the process, from an end user POV)

FWIW, both of the stations listed in post 1 play just fine in the web interface!
Both are broken (thanks to being AAC) in the audiotron. All three use the Winamp icon.

Lastly (for the moment), is within reason to ask for a separate icon for AAC streams, so that this doesn't happen again in the future?
Or am I unknowingly asking for something that would be a PITA (not what I want to do)?

Again, I am grateful for your efforts and time!

Continuing the conversation from the 'server not working' thread...

My issue now is minor in comparison.
I'm getting a *lot* of garbage audio, background hiss (in many cases), and just general problems in connecting to most of my stations (where I wasn't before the change in IP's).

I found the source of my issues!

It seems that whatever form of security they are using (on the streams referenced below)
leaves a lasting fragment of code behind that renders the AT "broken" until a hard reboot.
Meaning you have to flip the Mains power on the rear of the unit before you'll be able to resume normal operation.

(I originally intended to insert some images, but just found out the hard way that the forum doesn't host. lol
I'll have to switch to the laptop later and edit this post for better clarity and understanding.)

For the time being though, any station that you attempt to play that's hosted by 'securenetsysyems.net' causes static, garbling, and general lockup of the audiotron.

Once you have attempted to listen to a stream that uses this protection scheme,
Even IF you are lucky enough to be able to get the given stream to stop, any subsequent stream you attempt to connect to will be broken (rendered unplayable).
Even though in reality, it is an otherwise perfectly valid and viable stream! (Read as: the station that you tried to play after being hit with their "lockup code" will function normally after power cycling the unit from the rear)

Current defective stream examples in the ListenLive database that are highly likely to cause problems (since I'm not sure yet whether this is just my unit, related to the 3.2.25 firmware, or if it's universal across audiotrons.)

Proceed with caution:
