Hard to tell what exactly the problem is.
Possibly the device is slowly dying. (bad blocks in the firmware chip are known to happen randomly)

Does it have the recovery mode installed?
If so, you could try a reset within the listenlive firmware and see if you can change the date after that. Do not reset Internet connection settings..
However, if there is indeed a bad block in one fo the areas where the settings are stored you might end up with an unsuable device as you then might have less options that you cna set/change
